Paul Multhaupt was an industrialist, collector and Anton Räderscheidt’s first patron during the period of the “New Objectivity”. The former CEO (1909-1931) of Schloemann AG – today SMS Schloemann-Siemag AG Düsseldorf – was a passionate patron and carried a magnificent collection with works by Heckel, Beckmann, Nolde, Klee, Chagall, Campendonk, Räderscheidt, Vlaminck and Kirchner , the photographer Albert Renger-Patzsch and many other artists, some of whom were still insignificant at the time. A visionary of art.
The collection was exhibited in the Flechtheim Gallery in Düsseldorf in 1933 and has since disappeared.
Paul Multhaupt took his own life 4 weeks before presenting his collection.
